New England Art News April 25
Art call, prize, and job deadlines. A grant writing mentorship. Conversations with a Maine curator and a Providence painter. Art in Connecticut. Plus, my next Drinks with Artists location...!
Happy Friday!
Is it just me or does spring arrive all at once? It’s like you wake up one day and everything is in bloom. It makes me think (a little prematurely) of that evocative F. Scott Fitzgerald line, “And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” Here’s to hoping for many fruitful new beginnings this season…
Last week I was at a show at House of Blues in Boston and the woman next to me in the crowd said “Wait, aren’t you the Rhode Island art guy…?” The question made me laugh, but also made me reflect on all the beautiful happenstance connections that come with being active in the arts in our region. If you ever run into me in the world, please introduce yourself. I genuinely always enjoy meeting new art people! - Michael
