New Voices Party Rescheduled to Saturday, 6-8pm!
You may have noticed you’re receiving this newsletter a day early and the reason is that the reception for New Voices at the Warwick Center for the Arts, originally scheduled for tonight, has been postponed due to the snow. Please join me to celebrate the show this Saturday, February 8 from 6-8pm instead. I curated this exhibition to highlight younger and emerging artists in Rhode Island and I’m looking forward to celebrating these makers with you on Saturday. Consider spreading the word and help us to have a strong turnout for this reception. WCFA is located in the heart of Warwick and there is ample parking.
Interview with New Hampshire’s PILLAR Gallery + Projects
Small, locally focused galleries are important to our regional art ecosystem and I have admired the work artists Mike Howat and Fallon Rae are doing at Concord’s PILLAR Gallery + Projects for some time. I recently took part in a conversation with them, which you can find on my personal blog. They have some great things coming up, including a couple open call opportunities. Consider reading and sharing their story to promote this gallery.
A Personal Invite: Submit Art to The Womxn Project’s Advocacy is Love Exhibition and Fundraiser
I am happy to be one of the curators organizing donations of small artworks for a special exhibition and fundraiser in support of The Womxn Project, a RI statewide advocacy organization that does important work in the areas of reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and more. I hope you’ll consider participating. You can learn more about the show by clicking here.

This week I wrote a profile of Providence-based illustrator, designer, and artist Annalisa Oswald. A Critic in the Illustration Department at RISD for 15 years, Oswald has designed everything from user interfaces to fabrics. She maintains an active studio practice, too! Reading and sharing my article on Annalisa is a great way to support her creative endeavors while promoting local arts journalism.
