Vote Yes on Question 5 - Rhode Island bond issue would bring $10 million to arts orgs, including $4 million in funds for matching grants for capital improvements via RISCA. Even this token sum could be transformative for small arts orgs.
Providence Picture Frame Opens Newport Location - Popular framer opens second space. Never have to ‘go over the bridge’ to get your art framed again.
Two Studios Available at Aunty’s House - Providence arts space offers two private studios in special community. Prices are $450 and $525.
Cranston Auction House Sale on October 19 - Associated Estate and Appraisal of Cranston is hosting a sale October 19 at noon including visual art and antiques.
Autumn Open House at JAC October 20 - Jamestown Arts Center hosts special event Sunday, October 20 from 1-4pm. Free art-based activities for all ages.

Adult Makerspace in Maine - Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockland hosts adult maker space October 20 from 10-12. Sliding scale of $5 - $15.
Printmaking Auction and Party - Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT hosts its annual benefit October 26. Tickets are $65.
Drawings Show in Lowell - On view at Art League of Lowell’s ALL Gallery through November 2. Free admission.
Pottery Invitational at Worcester Center for Crafts - Impressive ceramics exhibition on view November 2 - 16. Opening free and open to the public.

Fay Chandler Emerging Artist Exhibition - Emerging artists in the Greater Boston area are encouraged to apply. $7,000+ in prizes. Deadline is October 20.
Digital Art Exhibition Online - Mounted by Cape Cod Art Center and hosted virtually, with cash prizes. Entries start at $15. Deadline is October 20.
Art Fellowship on Nantucket - Hosted by Artists Association of Nantucket and open to recent MFA graduates. One month long with $2,500 in funding. Applications due November 1.
Call for Queer BIPOC Photographers - GRID Gallery in Providence has an open call right now for solo and duo exhibitions. Application fee of $20 - $25.
Show Art in Western MA - Lathrop Community Gallery in Northampton, MA seeks proposals for solo exhibitions. No entry fee or commission. Deadline is rolling.
Special Section: Craft in New England
Fields like craft and decorative arts are sometimes held apart from their counterparts like painting and sculpture, but craft-based disciplines are always worthy of attention. With a special show on view now through November 9 at Gallery 263 in Cambridge, it’s a great time to dive into some other craft opportunities for New Englanders.
Grant Opportunities:
Emergency Preparedness Grants for Craft Artists - CERF Emergency Relief funds of $1,000 available to artists nationwide. Deadline is October 29.
Young (Jewelry) Artist Award - Art Jewelry Forum’s award of $7,500 for young artists nationwide. Deadline to apply is November 6.
Craft Innovation Jumpstarter - Society of Arts and Crafts is offering four grants of $3,000 each to advance new ideas. Deadline to apply is November 25.
Studio Stipend of $500 for Artists of Color - The Color Network provides one $500 grant a month for artists of color working in ceramics across the nation. Due last Sunday of each month.
Microgrant of $100 for Artists of Color - Also from The Color Network, for exhibition fees and other small expenses. Due last Sunday of each month.
A Job Opening:
Brookfield Craft Center Seeks Executive Director - Located in Brookfield, CT. Seeking at least 5 years of experience. Salary range is $60,000 - $75,000.
A Special Fundraiser:
New Hampshire Furniture Masters Main Event - October 19 from 5 - 7 in Concord, NH. Tickets are $50. Funds go towards educational programs including an innovative Prison Outreach Program.
Educational Offerings:
Harvard Ceramics Resident Lecture - Featuring Yonatan Hopp on Wednesday, October 23 at 5pm. In person and virtual. Free admission.
Build Your Own Picture Frame - Two day course October 26 - 27 at the Eliot School in Boston. Tuition is $127, open to all ages.
Learn Coptic Book Binding - Study with Andre Lee Bassuet at AS220 in Providence. Sunday, October 27 at 12 - 3pm. Tuition is $75.
Jewelry Workshop in Pawtucket - Learn about creating pendants at Bench Studio on November 6, from 6-9pm. Early bird fee is $185 (before Oct. 30)
Tall Form Ceramics Workshop - Study with Zoe Wyner at South County Art Association in RI. November 7 and 14. Non-member price is $125.
