Welcome to New England Art News!
As someone who works with a LOT of artists, I realize that navigating opportunities in the field is challenging. Over the summer I have been posting a weekly roundup of art events and happenings in Rhode Island on my Instagram story and thought there might be a better and more reliable way to share these resources.
With this substack, I plan to share this kind of news about once a week (maybe every two weeks if it’s a slow period). It will be Rhode Island centric, but I will also be sharing openings, exhibitions, and other events from the region, as well as calls for art, grant opportunities, and more.
You can learn more about me at my website, and you can email me with ideas and suggestions to make this newsletter as valuable as possible. If you want to make sure you don’t miss future installments, subscribe below to get them in your inbox.

Read My Latest Profile for GoLocalProv
Each Wednesday, I publish an “Inside Art” column for the Providence-based news website GoLocalProv. This week, I wrote a feature on Traé Brooks, a talented metals resident at The Steel Yard. I hope you will read it and consider passing it along.
Local arts journalism is important and sharing these stories to your own social media feeds is a helpful way to buoy emerging artists.
Calls for Small Work from Around New England
On my personal blog, I have also been crafting some short lists of opportunities for New England artists. This week, I shared a post with seven calls for small artworks at galleries in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island.
